For Queensland based transport business, R & K Bulk Haulage, several trucks serve as moving billboards for causes close to the owners’ hearts. Based in the small town of Jondaryan, Queensland, R & K Bulk Haulage is a family owned and operated business, started by Russell and Karen Strasburg in 2005.
Its 44-strong truck fleet stands out in the crowd, with many of the truck and trailer combinations sporting vibrant colours and/or impressive airbrushing. But it’s the latest addition to the fleet, a purple Kenworth T909 and matching A-double set of trailers that’s been turning heads. Dedicated to epilepsy awareness, the new truck’s theme is in honour of Russell and Karen’s daughter Skye Strasburg – with purple being the international colour for epilepsy. March 26 each year is Purple Day, a global initiative dedicated to raising epilepsy awareness, dispelling myths and furthering support for those living with epilepsy.

HR Alert-Decision making errors 'rampant' amongst leaders |
Article from HR Daily 22/4/24 Employers are failing to consider how behavioural factors are compromising the quality of decision-making in workplaces, and it's costing them dearly, according to a landmark study.
New research on decision quality – based on a survey of more than 1,000 decision-makers – "proves that very few people make good quality decisions, even the highest‐performing leaders", say the authors from workplace specialist Decision Design. Decision Design founder Dr Johann Ponnampalam says businesses are "decision-making factories", and that the quality of "every single decision" directly relates to their success.
But "decision quality issues" lead to loss of revenue and customers, and a decline in employee engagement and retention. Business costs increase by 59% and business processes become 44% less effective, so improving decision quality can have a "profound impact" on financial success, productivity and retaining top talent, he says. According to the study, the main factors causing leaders to make poor decisions include: being negatively impacted by at least one common decision bias (84%); being impacted by excessive optimism (62%); and being impacted by overconfidence (62%).
