Qld Government's Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Rebate Scheme |
On 1 July 2022, the Queensland Government's Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Rebate Scheme opened— providing $3000 rebates for eligible electric vehicle (EV) purchases. Applicants can apply online. This initiative supports Queensland’s Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy 2022-2032 (the Strategy) and implementation of its first action plan. What is the ZEV Rebate Scheme?
The ZEV rebate reduces the upfront purchase price of a new eligible ZEV and makes them more affordable for more Queenslanders. The ZEV rebate targets light passenger and light commercial vehicles as these are the largest contributor of greenhouse gas emissions within Queensland's transport sector. To assist make entry level ZEVs more affordable, the Queensland Government has committed $45 million to provide a rebate of $3000 for eligible ZEVs with a dutiable value up to $58,000 (including GST) purchased on or after 16 March 2022.
In addition, the Queensland Government is supporting accessible charging with $10 million to deliver the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Co-fund Scheme. The Scheme will provide up to $3 million and maximum of 50 per cent of total project costs, in co-funding for eligible applicants to deliver public fast-charging infrastructure across several priority zones in Queensland. Why on-road Trials for RUC? |
Federal Government - Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts
The National Heavy Vehicle Charging Pilot is an innovative partnership between industry and government testing direct user charging options for heavy vehicles through a series of on-road Trials (the Trials). The Trials are an opportunity for participants to test how an alternative approach to road user charging might affect their business in real time, and directly contribute to informing government decisions with their feedback. Participation is voluntary, and as the Trials will be run in test conditions, no money will be exchanged.
It is important to note that governments have not made any decisions to change the current heavy vehicle road user charging system. |

Hydrogen refuelling: it's time to hit the road |
LinkedIn post by Viva Energy Australia - QTA Silver Partner
Next year, Viva Energy plans to open its first hydrogen refuelling station as part of the Geelong Energy Hub in an important step towards the replacement of carbon-intensive heavy vehicles on Australian roads.
Geelong will be home to a fleet of at least 15 emissions-free heavy vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells all utilising Viva Energy’s new hydrogen refuelling station.
We’re excited to announce we have placed an order with Nel Hydrogen US for a 2.5MW PEM electrolyser, and a hydrogen dispensing system from Air Liquide capable of refuelling multiple vehicles at once. This will be the first system of its kind in Australia, with the capacity to generate and deliver more than 1,000 kilograms of green hydrogen per day.
The electrolyser will generate green hydrogen by using renewable electricity to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. The recycled water will be supplied from Barwon Water’s Northern Water Plant.
This project leads the way towards a cleaner and more sustainable future with the help of Australian Renewable Energy Agency and Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning support. |
