NSW: Sydney CBD and Pyrmont road closures on Sunday 4 May - Runaway Sydney Half Marathon

There will be road closures in place from 4am on Sunday 4 May in the Sydney CBD and Pyrmont for the Runaway Sydney Half Marathon. 

Key road closures include:

  • Western Distributor from Pyrmont to the city from 5am to 10.30am: no direct access from the Anzac Bridge to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, including the Fig and Pyrmont Street on-ramps, and the King Street off-ramp
  • Cahill Expressway Circular Quay Overpass from 4am to 12.30pm: no direct access from the Sydney Harbour Bridge to the Domain Tunnel. The Cahill Expressway lanes 7 and 8 and all lanes on the Sydney Harbour Bridge deck remain open.
  • Macquarie Street between Albert Street and St James Road from 4am until 12.30pm
  • St James and Prince Albert Roads and the northbound lanes of College Street from 5am until 9.30am.
  • Bent Street and Shakespeare Place cross over will be closed from 5.30am to 12pm: no access across Macquarie Street

Heavy vehicles including Oversize Overmass travelling north or south of the city are encouraged to use Victoria Road and the Gladesville Bridge to avoid traffic delays on the following detour routes in the city:

Cahill Expressway/Eastern Suburbs detour 4am to 12.30pm:

  • Vehicles travelling southbound on the Sydney Harbour Bridge Highway will be detoured via the CBD or the Western Distributor while the Cahill Expressway Circular Quay Overpass is closed
  • From the city, access the Eastern Distributor (height limit 4.4 metres and no dangerous goods) via York, King, Elizabeth, Park and William Streets to the Bourke Street on-ramp
  • Vehicles not carrying dangerous goods can use the Sydney Harbour Tunnel (height limit 4.4 metres), which remains open in both directions during the event.

Anzac Bridge to Harbour Bridge detour 5am to 10.30am:

  • All citybound traffic on the Anzac Bridge will be detoured via the Western Distributor Bathurst Street off-ramp. No direct access to the Sydney Harbour Bridge or CBD north King Street off-ramp.
  • Access to the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be via the Clarence Street on-ramp.

Other key roads in Sydney CBD, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Barangaroo, Millers Point, The Domain Sydney and Pyrmont will be closed.
