Road Conditions NQ: Bruce Highway - Burdekin River Bridge Rehabilitation Project (8-13 December)

Bruce Highway lane closures and width restrictions

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) would like to advise that general structure maintenance works will occur on the Burdekin River Bridge from Sunday 8 December to Friday 13 December 2024.

Works will occur from: 7.30pm to 4.30am, Sunday 8 December to Friday 13 December 2024

All work is subject to construction progress and weather conditions.


Traffic impacts:

  • Single lane closures with contraflow for up to 10 minutes at a time.
  • Motorists can expect delays of up to 10 minutes. Please plan your journey ahead of time at QLDTraffic
  • Oversize vehicle or wide loads greater than 3.3 metres are required to provide a minimum of 2 hours notice,
  • Workers, heavy vehicles, and machinery will be working near traffic
  • Please drive carefully through the roadworks zone, follow direction of traffic controllers, and adhere to reduced speed limits.


ATTENTION HEAVY VEHICLE OPERATORS
Wide load restrictions

The following wide load restrictions will be in place:

  1. Heavy vehicles operators with an oversize vehicle or wide loads greater that 3.3m are required to provide at least 2 hours' notice before crossing the Burdekin River Bridge during these works.
  2. The existing height restriction of 4.5 metres remains in place.
