Road Conditions: Woondum to Curra, Bruce Highway - Gympie Bypass opened to traffic
Source: Department of Transport and Main Roads (08/11/2024)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads would like to advise that the Bruce Highway Upgrade – Cooroy to Curra, Section D (Gympie Bypass) project is now open to traffic.
Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 Gympie Bypass Notices
The department has developed Class 1 and Class 3 Notice and a Class 2 Notice to accommodate a transition period and provide heavy vehicle operators who hold current permits on the Bruce Highway via Gympie (Old Bruce Highway) access to the new Gympie Bypass without the need to apply for a route amendment permit.
These Notices will be valid until 5 November 2025. Heavy vehicle operators are required to apply for a route amendment should they require access beyond the Notice expiry date.
To be eligible to operate under either Notice heavy vehicle operators must be issued with:
- an NHVR permit (Classes 1, 2 or 3) before 24 October 2024; and
- the permit must provide authorisation to operate on the section of the Old Bruce Highway.
The NHVR have developed a Queensland Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 Gympie Bypass Notices information sheet to assist.
National Network Map update
The NHVR National Network Map has been updated to reflect applicable gazetted networks on the Gympie Bypass. Gazetted network access remains unchanged on the Old Bruce Highway and is replicated on the new Gympie Bypass.
We would like to thank the heavy vehicle industry for your patience during construction and look forward to the many benefits the new bypass will provide the community.
