Temporary closure of Gympie Connection Road and nightworks for Bruce Highway Upgrade – Cooroy to Curra

Information from Department of Transport & Main Roads

As part of the Bruce Highway Upgrade – C2CD Project, Contract 1, night works to deliver and install concrete bridge girders will occur from Sunday 18 September to Saturday 24 September 2022, weather and construction conditions permitting.

The work is required to construct two bridges to carry the new Bruce Highway alignment over Gympie Connection Road.

To facilitate these works, Gympie Connection Road from Tin Bay Road to the North Coast Rail Line will be closed to all traffic between 6pm Sunday 18 September to 6pm Saturday 24 September 2022. Road users will need to seek an alternate route.

For safety reasons, and due to the conditions of oversize load permits for the Bruce Highway, the delivery and installation of girders will occur at night between 6pm and 6am. Girders will be transported from Brisbane via the Bruce Highway, Brisbane Road, Cootharaba Road, Tin Can Bay Road to Gympie Connection Road to the project alignment.

Works to install a culvert within the intersection of Gympie Connection, Ascot and Old Goomboorian roads, Victory Heights will also occur from Monday 19 to Saturday 24 September during standard working hours (6am – 6pm). During the road closure period the intersection will be reduced to single lane shuttle flow between Ascot and Old Goomborian roads to permit local resident access only. Temporary traffic signals will be in place to guide road users.

Road users may experience short delays during these works.
