Road Conditions NSW - Oversize Overmass (OSOM) stopping area to open on the Hume Highway at Douglas Park
Source: Transport for NSW
From Tuesday 27 August, a new OSOM stopping area will open (weather permitting) on the northbound side of the Hume Highway at Moolgun Creek, Douglas Park about 3.5 kilometres north of the Picton Road interchange.
The existing OSOM stopping area at the Dust Bowl will close from Wednesday 28 August to allow for the opening of the Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1 project.
The Moolgun Creek stopping area will accommodate for a minimum of two OSOM vehicles 5 metres wide at a time and cater for an 8-metre wide 125-metre long OSOM vehicle. The site will include a 220-metre deceleration lane off the Hume Motorway, an 850-metre acceleration lane to return onto the Hume Motorway, and a bypass lane through the stopping area.
Heavy vehicles will not be permitted to use the new Moolgun Creek facility as a rest stop. This space will be reserved for Oversize Overmass (OSOM) vehicles only.
Heavy vehicles will need to proceed to alternative formal rest areas, as shown on the map. More information can be found on the Rest areas map (NSW) - Transport for NSW.
