Road Conditions: Asphalt Works - Balonne Highway, St George
nformation from Department of Transport and Main Roads, South West District
The Department of Transport and Main Roads will be starting asphalt works on the Balonne Highway (St George - Bollon), between the Carnarvon Highway (Mungindi - St George) intersection and 1.9km west of St George, excluding the Andrew Nixon Bridge, from 26 April 2023, weather and conditions permitting.
Asphalt works are part of our ongoing maintenance program for the South West District and are an important part of the district's overall maintenance program.
Works will be carried out between 6am and 6pm between Monday to Saturday and are expected to be completed by 3 May 2023.
Residents and business will experience some disruption to accesses, construction noise, dust and odour while construction is underway, and we will do our best to limit these.
We will try to minimise traffic delays as much as possible by using single lane closures, speed restrictions and traffic control. Motorists should slow down, drive carefully and follow the instructions of traffic controllers and construction signage and allow up to an additional 15 minutes for their journey.
Works may restrict wide-load vehicle access and permit holders are asked to check the TMR Conditions of Operation Database before travelling.
