Programmed Vehicle Inspections for heavy vehicles now managed by NHVR

Source:  Department of Transport and Main Roads, Vehicle Standards

A reminder that programmed vehicle inspections (PVIs) for heavy vehicles are now managed by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).

Bookings for heavy vehicle PVIs continue to be managed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and can be made online or by phoning 13 23 80. Fleet bookings can be made by contacting the NHVR on 1300 696 487.

We are conscious that since the National Services Transition demand for inspection booking slots is very high in some locations. Customers are being encouraged to book their PVI as soon as they receive their certificate of inspection (COI) reminder notice.

We understand that the NHVR is opening new sites over the coming months to meet customer demand for PVI bookings. TMR will continue working closely with the NHVR to ensure sufficient PVI booking slots are available for customers.

Customers should be aware that an extension of time (EOT) two months past the COI expiry will only be available under very limited circumstances, with suitable evidence required to support requests. The NHVR will not be issuing EOTs for customers moving forward.

Over the coming weeks, we will be reaching out directly to some customers to encourage them to book their COI as soon as possible. We are seeking your support to reinforce this message with your members to ensure operators can keep their vehicles on the road.

If you have any questions about EOT eligibility, you can email vehiclestandards@tmr.qld.gov.au.
