Christmas Eve (6pm-midnight) – Sunday, 24 December* Christmas Day - Monday 25 December Boxing Day - Tuesday, 26 December 2024 Public Holidays New Year's Day - Monday, 1 January Australia Day - Friday, 26 January Good Friday - Friday, 29 March Easter Saturday - Saturday, 30 March Easter Sunday - Sunday, 31 March
Easter Monday - Monday, 1 April ANZAC Day - Thursday, 25 April Labour Day - Monday, 6 May Royal Qld Show (Ekka) - Wednesday, 14 August (Brisbane Metro only) King's Birthday - Monday, 7 October
Christmas Eve (6pm-midnight) – Tuesday, 24 December Christmas Day - Wednesday, 25 December Boxing Day - Thursday, 26 December Accordingly, members are advised to prepare their holiday period staffing arrangements having regard to the following information for each Award. * Easter Sunday is appointed as a public holiday. These arrangements have been in place since 2017 following amendments to the Holidays Act 1983 (passed by Parliament on 1 December 2016). * From 2019, the Holidays Act 1983 provides for a part-day public holiday from 6pm to midnight on Christmas Eve (24 December)
* From Christmas Day 2011, the Holidays Act 1983 provides for an extra public holiday to be added when Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day falls on a weekend.

Christmas Day (Monday, 25 December 2023)
Double time for all hours worked for a minimum of 4 hours (in addition to normal weekly wage) – (effectively treble time). Boxing Day (Tuesday, 26 December 2023)
Time and a half for all hours worked for a minimum of 4 hours (in addition to normal weekly wage) – (effectively double time and half time).
New Year's Day (Monday, 1 January 2024) Time and a half for all hours worked for a minimum of 4 hours (in addition to normal weekly wage) – (effectively double time and half time).
Australia Day (Friday, 26 January 2023) Time and a half for all hours worked for a minimum of 4 hours (in addition to normal weekly wage) – (effectively double time and half time). |
