Do "work safely for our families" strategies work?
The authors of a study of nearly 300 safety critical workers have weighed in on whether safety initiatives focusing on workers' families encourage compliance, and where the practice can backfire.
They say their findings show family motivation has an "energising effect" on safety compliance through enhancing workers' sense of responsibility, which can be leveraged by employers and health and safety practitioners to improve safety outcomes.
