SEQ: UPDATE - Bald Hills | Gateway Arterial Motorway Flyover

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises of upcoming restricted travel conditions on the Gateway Arterial Motorway Flyover, which may affect heavy vehicles.
The following works will be undertaken:
- Removal and replacement of asphalt
- Traffic camera installation
Please note, these restrictions will apply to oversize and overmass vehicles operating under period and route-specific permits.
The restrictions will be in effect from:
- Sunday, 9 February 2025, to Tuesday, 11 February 2025; and
- Monday, 24 February 2025 to Friday, 7 March 2025.
Vehicles operating under a period or route specific permit
Operators must comply with the current conditions in the Conditions of Operation Database and any conditions outlined in the permit issued by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
Conditions of Operation Database
The current conditions of operation are available on the TMR website (www.tmr.qld.gov.au) under Business and Industry, Heavy vehicles, Queensland excess mass and dimension conditions, Conditions of Operation Database.
Search by road name ‘GATEWAY’ and select road ‘U13C’.
Unrestricted access
- Heavy vehicles with a Gross Combined Mass (GCM) greater than 4.5 tonnes and up to 68.5 tonnes, including buses, prime mover semi-trailers, and B-doubles traveling under Higher Mass Limits.
- Vehicles with a total width of 2.5 meters or less.
Restricted access
- Class 1 OSOM platform trailer combinations exceeding 59.5 tonnes will not be permitted to straddle the centreline during works, as per prevailing conditions.
- Any heavy vehicle or trailer combination exceeding 2.5 meters in width will face restricted access.
Important Note:
These restrictions may result in significant travel delays for affected vehicles. Operators are advised to plan accordingly.
Heavy vehicles that arrive on-site and meet the criteria for restricted access will be required to hold and remain in place until current activities are concluded.
