Roadworks notice: Burke Developmental Road (Almaden - Chillagoe)

Update from Department of Transport & Main Roads

On Monday 19 September 2022, the crew needs to undertake drilling and blasting works to remove a rock on section 2. Traffic will be stopped for about 15 minutes to allow for these works.

This $21.8 million project, funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, will seal sections 1 and 2 and will improve resilience on the route and create opportunities for residents and businesses.

Works are undertaken between 6am to 6pm. For the safety of workers and road users, changed traffic conditions are in place until works are complete, including temporary speed limit reductions and single lane closures. Road users should expect minor delays and plan their journeys accordingly.

The works are expected to be complete in late 2022, weather and construction conditions permitting.
