Road Conditions Update: QLD-REMINDER | Bald Hills | Gateway Motorway flyover

TMR would like to remind heavy vehicle industry of the travel conditions on the Gateway Motorway flyover for some heavy vehicles. 

Restrictions still apply to Oversize Overmass vehicles operating under period and route specific permits.  

Vehicles operating under a period permit 
Operators must comply with the current conditions of operation which are available through the Conditions of Operation Database on the TMR website. 

Vehicles operating under a route specific permit 
Operators must comply with the conditions of the permit issued by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. Additionally, operators must comply with the current conditions of operation which are available through the Conditions of Operation Database on the TMR website. 

Conditions of Operation Database 
The current conditions of operation area available on the TMR website (www.tmr.qld.gov.au) under Business and Industry, Heavy vehicles, Queensland excess mass and dimension conditions, Conditions of Operations Database.

Search by road name 'GATEWAY' and select road 'U13C'. 

The following vehicles have unrestricted access: 

  • Heavy vehicle with GCM greater than 4.5t and up to 68.5t including buses, prime mover semi-trailers and b-doubles travelling at Higher Mass Limits. 
  • Class 3 vehicles travelling under the Mass Export Management Scheme and/or the Mass Import Management Scheme
  • Vehicles operating under the following Notices
    • Multi-State Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicles Mass Exemption Notice 2020 
    • National Class 1 Agricultural Vehicle and Combination Mass and Dimension Exemption Notice 202 
    • Queensland Class 1 Special Purpose Combination Mass & Dimension Exemption Notice 2019. 

Class 1 oversize overmass platform trailer combinations 
Class 1 OSOM platform trailer combinations exceeding 59.5t need to cross the structure on the centreline across both lanes (as shown in the image below). 

Operators must also contact the Smart Motorways Stage 2 project team sm2.admin@seymourwhyte.com.au at least five (5) working days prior to travel to be facilitated through road works. These vehicles must not cross when either lane is closed and must contact the project site representative on 0477 428 926 at least two (2) hours prior to arrival on site. 

Class 1 oversize overmass platform trailer combinations
