Road Conditions Update: FNQ-Ingham-Innisfail-Cairns-Resealing Works
TMR is about to start resealing works at the following times and locations in FNQ:
- Bruce Highway (Ingham – Innisfail): 25 – 27 September 2023 – section through Kennedy
- Bruce Highway (Innisfail – Cairns): 28 September to 4 October 2023 – various sections through Waugh Pocket, Bellenden Ker, Deeral and Aloomba
Crews will be onsite Monday to Saturday between 6 am and 6 pm Monday 25 September to Friday 4 October 2023, weather and construction conditions permitting. Work crews will progress from site to site as works are completed in each location.
Timeframes may be subject to change depending on the program of works and weather conditions.
The works will involve resealing the road surface to extend the life of the road pavement and reduce the formation of potholes. The works will improve safety and travelling conditions for road users.
For the safety of road users and maintenance crews, changed traffic conditions will be in place including temporary speed limit reductions, and single lane operation under coordination of traffic controllers while the works are carried out.
Intermittent full closures of the road will be required at times to carry out the works. Road users can expect delays of up to 15-minute periods during the full closures. Road users should plan their journeys accordingly.
Nearby residents and businesses may experience noise associated with the works, such as the sound of trucks, light machinery and vibrations while the work is carried out. The Contractor will take all reasonable and practical actions to minimise impacts.
Variable Message Signs (VMS) are in place on the approaches to the work sites to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions. Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
