Road Conditions NSW - Changed traffic conditions on New England Highway at Tarro Rail Bridge
Source: Transport for NSW
Essential maintenance work will be carried out on the New England Highway at Tarro Rail Bridge from 3am Saturday 3 August to 5am Tuesday 6 August.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the duration of the work.
During these works there will be a 3.5 metre width restriction and a mass restriction of 69 tonnes. Vehicles that have widths up to 3.5 metres and gross mass up to 69 tonnes will be able to use the bridge.
Vehicles exceeding 3.5 metres in width and/or 69 tonnes will not be permitted to travel over the bridge.
Detour arrangements are via Maitland Road, Newcastle Inner City Bypass, Newcastle Road, and Hunter Expressway. OSOM vehicles up to 6 metres wide, 35 metres long and 5.2 metres high will be able to travel via the detour.
Class 1 OSOM combinations over these dimensions cannot use this detour due to restrictions along the route.
Vehicles travelling under a permit must not travel off the approved route/s listed in their permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
A process is in place to update existing permits to reflect these arrangements. Notification of these changes will be sent via the NHVR.
All lanes will be reopened to all traffic from 5am on Tuesday 6 August.
Traffic impacts associated with the closure will be updated on Live Traffic NSW here.
