Road Conditions NSW: Changed traffic conditions on Maitland Road at Hexham

There will be changed traffic conditions on Maitland Road at Hexham from Sunday 1 September to Wednesday 4 September to carry out work on the Hexham Straight Widening project.
The work will be carried out at night between 7pm and 5am to minimise impacts to road users.
- Sunday 1 September: there will be lane closures and a reduction in speed to 40km/h on Maitland Road near Hexham Bridge.
- From Monday 2 to Wednesday 4 September: there will be a temporary closure of the steel bridge over the Hunter River between 8.30pm and 4am. A contraflow will be in place and there will be no right turn for vehicles travelling to Sydney/Maitland from the Pacific Highway. Freight operators are advised to use the temporary ‘U turn’ on Maitland Road 350m from the intersection.
Oversize Overmass vehicles with ground contact width wider than 3.2 metres and/or width greater than 4.5 metres are advised to contact the project team on 1800 515 141 at least one day ahead of movement to avoid significant delays.
Note: Vehicles travelling under Permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the Permit unless an updated Permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
Work areas on Maitland Road at Hexham
Major work will continue from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, out of hours from 7pm to 7am Sunday to Thursday and Saturday between 8am and 1pm.
