Road Conditions FNQ: Fitzroy Developmental Road, Dingo - Heavy Vehicle restrictions remain
Source: Department of Transport and Main Roads, Heavy Vehicles Unit
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advise that the Springton Creek bridge on the Fitzroy Developmental Road between Dingo and Middlemount has temporarily been closed to all traffic.
A temporary side track around Springton Creek bridge has been constructed and is available to public road users, heavy vehicles under notice and oversize (excess dimension) loads only until work to reinstate the bridge to a safe condition is complete.
Class 1 oversize overmass (OSOM) vehicles that exceed a total mass of 42.5T, or Special Purpose Vehicles exceeding regulation mass limits, are not eligible to use the Springton Creek side track and will be required to find alternate access arrangements during the bridge closure.
New/Amend permit applications using Fitzroy Developmental Road
The NHVR will process your application to consent for TMR consideration. While restrictions remain in place, TMR will be providing industry the option of an alternate route on new and amend applications, if the requested vehicle combination is not eligible to use the side track.
TMR will send through an 'Information Request' via the NHVR Portal recommending the alternate route. The customer will need to review the route to ensure it meets their freight task. Once agreed upon, the NHVR will update the application with the alternate route and return to TMR for consent from.
Renewal of permits using Fitzroy Developmental Road
While restrictions remain in place, TMR will be providing a decision to refuse access for Class 1 heavy vehicles exceeding 42.5 tonnes. The NHVR will contact customers on receiving the refusal to discuss alternate access arrangements for your vehicle combination.
If you are eligible, the NHVR will create an amend application at no charge and forward for road manager consent on the alternate route.
Current Permits
There will be no change to existing permits which have been previously granted access, however industry is advised to check the TMR Conditions of Operation Database to ensure you are using up-to-date information when you are assessing the suitability of your route.
TMR are continuously monitoring, assessing and reviewing our roads, bridges and culverts across Queensland. Conditions can change quickly, particularly due to weather. Restrictions are implemented to maintain ongoing safety for all road users.
It is your responsibility to make sure you're using up-to-date information when you assess the suitability of your route.
You must check the Conditions of Operation Database before you start your journey.
