Road Conditions: Charters Towers - Townsville, Flinders Highway Width restrictions
Information from Department of Transport & Main Roads (TMR), Heavy Vehicles Unit
Due to roadworks on the Flinders Highway, width restrictions will be in place at Barringa and Crimea until mid-2023.
Heavy vehicle operators with an oversize vehicle or loads of more than 3.5m wide must provide 24 hours' notice of travel through the two work zones, so that barriers and other roadwork equipment can be relocated. Failure to provide advanced notification of travel through the work zones will result in delays.
To provide 24 hours advanced notice of oversize (3.5m or wider) travel through the work zones contact Dave Stanworth 0409 751 336 or Des Millar 0438 784 178.
Traffic controllers providing direction, and advanced warning signs notifying road users of these changes will be in place. While TMR will make every effort during these works to minimise impacts, road users can expect delays of up to 10 minutes. Please factor additional travel time into your journey.
TMR are continuously monitoring, assessing and reviewing our roads, bridges and culverts across Queensland. Conditions can change quickly, particularly due to weather. Restrictions are implemented to maintain ongoing safety for all road users.
It is your responsibility to make sure you're using up-to-date information when you assess the suitability of your route.
You must check the Conditions of Operation Database before you start your journey.
