Palmerston Highway Upgrade Study

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is progressing a study to identify potential upgrades of the Palmerston Highway.

The primary goal of the Palmerston Highway (Innisfail - Ravenshoe) Upgrade Strategy - Link Planning are to develop a short, medium and long-term upgrade strategy to improve the overall safety, reliability, capacity, transport efficiency, road performance, and flood immunity on the Palmerston Highway.

The study will include an assessment of the highway, facilities and infrastructure to determine deficiencies and existing and future risks.

Completion of the Palmerston Highway (Innisfail - Ravenshoe)  Upgrade Strategy – Link Planning is expected in early 2024, and construction of any identified upgrades is currently unfunded.
