IR Alert 31 - ‘Secure Jobs Better Pay’ Act 2022 amendments now in effect

On 6 December 2022, the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs Better Pay) Act 2022 received Royal Assent. The Amendment Act has made changes to the Fair Work Act 2009, as well as two other associated Acts. Many of these amendments are relevant to how our industry operates and some may be relevant to current industrial actions being taken by some members.

The amendments will commence in stages over a 12-month period. A timeline of the changes, as they currently stand, have been published by the Fair Work Commission, a copy of which is below. Importantly, some changes have already taken effect as of 7 December 2022.
